Don't Heckle The Supervillain

And so this is Christmas...

Every year at this time I read this letter and watch this movie.

The letter you can read for yourself and enjoy.

But the show, well when Charlie Brown asks "Isn't there anyone out there who can tell me what Christmas is all about?"

Linus steps up with "Sure, Charlie Brown, I can tell you. Lights, please. "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you this day is born in the City of Bethlehem, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men'". That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie brown."

Since you can't really read it unless you go into the quotes section I'm pinching it from IMDB, I hope they and Charles Schultz et al. don't mind.

I'm not a particularly religious person. Whatever force, be it deliberate or accidental, that controls this universe I make peace with in my own way. However, there is some little scrap of insight into the workings of the universe in those two afore mentioned works. They bring peace, hope and tidings of joy into my heart and I hope into yours as well be they new to your eyes or simply forgotten.

Ho, ho, hack you up?

Ok, when did Christmas become the time of year to release horror films? Isn't holiday shopping enough of a nightmare with out these movies? In the next couple of weeks several horror movie are cropping up at the local googleplex. Just look at the list: Darkness, White Noise, Fat Albert.

Ok, so maybe that last one is just a horrible idea but still...

What happened to the season of peace, joy and love?

I'm not disturbed by this per se, just curious as to what marketing genius in Hollywood thought "Christmas! Everone loves a good bloodbath at Christmas!"
