What it takes to be a supervillian...

Once again, dear reader, let me remind you. I do not, in fact, believe myself to be a supervillian. But you can go here to start down that path if you so choose. This guy seems to have a rough idea of what it takes, at least from a software engineering perspective.

On another note, this Timmy McTool doesn't quite seem to get that I WAS SICK and thus LOST TRACK OF THE GODDAMN DATE!!! Moron. But this is what you come to expect from network guys. He also failed to realize that the "day off" did not apply to me and, therefore, also had no meaning. Only those aloof government/education types have MLK day off. The rest of us actually work for a living. What a friggin tool.

That is all. For now.

I shit you not...

This is the actual subject line from an e-mail that was sent to me by the good folks at drugstore.com:

"Nicholas, get up to 40% off condoms & a great Valentine's gift"

Subtle is obviously not in their vocabulary. Besides, if I'm giving a girl condoms aren't I already giving her a great Valentine's gift? Hey-o! I'll be here all week. Try the veal. But seriously, there's just an intangable quality about this kind of direct marketing that makes me go ick. It's like they're saying "Hey, we think you're probably going to be having sex!" Of course, the truely sad part is, that in my case, they are wrong.

That is all.

Lost time

HOLY CRAP! IT'S WENDSDAY? WENDSDAY!?!?!?!?! SON OF A....

I totally thought it was Tuesday. My God. I've lost a day somewhere. I can't believe what an effect having a simple cold can have on a person. Sweet goodness.

On the upside, I'm feeling much better, thank you for asking.

That is all.

I'm sick, now go away.

If you've tried to get in touch with me and I haven't responded, I'm sorry. I'm sick.

My nasal passages are aflame. The itching, the burning. I can't breathe or sleep. I'm miserable.

I blame Furious George aka Tony for this as he's the only person I've had contact with who has been ill lately. Curse you!

That is all.

And people say what I do in my off-time is weird

This is what I'm talking about.

PS: I hate my life right now.

That is all.

It hurts Daddy to look

Normally, I'm talking about women when I say that...not this time. Look! But beware, it may hurt just a little too much.

That is all.

And the hits just keep on coming...

Ever wonder how many times life can knock you down before you stop trying to get up?

I'm finding out.

That is all.

Deeply Interesting

I find this article to be worth reading. I'm not quite sure how gravity acts as a telescope but I'm going to look into it (uh, no pun intended there, sorry about that one.)

Late addition. This article also of note.

That is all.

Recently overheard

Person 1 (female): Who's winning?

Person 2 (female): Who's losing?

Person 3 (male): Who cares? Somebody just take something off!

That is all.

Uh...yeah. O.K.

Well, I've managed to drag myself out of the hole that I well and properly dug for myself. It's almost amusing that I've been so out of step. I don't drink, smoke or use any kind of illicit narcotic. Aside from my weight I'm actually a fairly clean living sort of fellow. But this past week it did nothing but rain. Every day. It just got grayer and grayer as the week went on until it was so grey that I thought about slitting my wrists just to see color (ok, I stole that from Lewis Black but can you blame me? It's funny and did you read what I just wrote? I didn't have time to come up with anything myself, my life was being drained away by the grey! Sweet Christ pay attention.) so mostly I just slept when I could, ate when I had to and ignored the rest of the world outside my few real responsibilities. I slept alot.

I'm going to do a write up of my trip home. Really, I swear I am going to this time. Promise. Though that's mostly to myself rather than the three people who will possibly read this.

Saturday night had dinner with Fil and Homer at CPK. The conversation is always the best part. Especially when people start playing off each other, it gets wild. Often after a really raucous conversation, you know the kind that has other patrons of the restraunt giving your table funny looks (guilty!), I think that I should start tape recording the damn things.

I'm beating a dead horse here but, while I adore my new X-box, there is one thing I have to gripe about. If you're reading this chances are you already know what's coming. To enable the functionality of the X-box's DVD player you have to buy what amounts to basically an IR receptor and remote control. It's something like $30.00. Now, mind you, the actuall functionality for playing DVDs is already bundled in with your X-box. It's already there, you just have to buy this "kit" to unlock it. Now if you talk to Fil or Homes about this they'll spill some mumbo-jumbo about licenses on you but don't you believe it! Even though they are, technically, right. It just seems wrong to me to have to pay for the thing twice. I don't care if Microsoft did it to lower the cost of the X-box below $300. I know they took a hit but so did Sony and they at least put the functionality in there w/o buying the remote. Which I probably would have done anyway just for the convienence. Still it just rankles me a little.

Also, just a quick note. The remote for my other DVD player is the twin of the X-box remote. Only the coloration is different. And yes each remote does work on the other appliance. Kooky.

Did I have any resolutions this year? Not really. Ex Post Facto? Probably to try and be a better friend to those who have been truely good friends to me. This includes: Ross, Mrs. Anderson, Fil, Tony, Homer, Beaner and Jessie (who keeps writing me the nicest letters despite the fact that I haven't written one back.)

Well, that's that for now.

That is all.
