Kicking it into high gear, well, ok, probably just second gear
Packivation: 5 (new high!)
Getting stuff going. Woo!
Yeah, I just can't pull off the "woo!" you have to be kind of
gay to successfully pull the "woo!".
More packing, less
blogging.
Also, in case you missed it the first time, I added a revision to my
"ballpark rant". Just a minor one, but still...
That is all.

They grew apart
Packivation: 3
I packed my plates, bowls, mugs and such today. I'm pretty proud of that. I actually got some stuff done. I also bought some packing stuff from
uhaul, they're supposed to deliver it to my door. I hope it gets here tomorrow.
In other news, a friend and his fiancee have split. I only have rough info at this point, nothing specific. I hope they're both OK. It's unfortunate, they were a good couple. She's said "We grew apart." Perhaps the most abused and ignorant excuse people use when breaking up. I'll have more on this soon.
That is all.

Slipping
Packivation: -1
It's actually slipped. I can't believe it.
Anyway, check out
Homer's
Otakon pix. Lots of scantily clad teenage whores!!!
That is all.

Forgot about Otakon
Damn.
Homer usually helps out at the thing, he's kind of in with the big-wigs at the big shin-dig. I'm sure
Homes,
Fil, Rome and the rest of the gang are all there and I can't wait to hear about it.
Otakon is this weekend.
There are probably going to be good stories and even better pictures.
That is all.
One more thing...
Yeah, sorry about the template change, but something got screwed up at Blogger so I had to change it. I'm probably going to change it again so I can put some links back into the thing. This is what happens when you don't learn HTML.
*Sigh*
That is all.
Boxes: 6, Me: 0
Packivation Level: 2 (1 Low, 10 High)
Boxes Packed: 6
Days till Move: 8
Analysis: Moderate trouble
On a personal note, I haven't had much to say recently. Hang in there, I'll gripe about something other than moving soon. Maybe.
That is all.

One step closer
My lack of packing motivation continues. I think I'll call it "Packivation" for short. Anyway, it's very low. And yet I've managed to get at least 1/3 of my apartment done. Once I've tackled the kitchen it'll almost be 1/2.
That is all.

Ignorance is bliss?
Want to stay awake at night, starring at the ceiling wondering if it's going to cave in on you in some horrific fireball?
Read
this and you will.
Who ever said a little knowledge is a dangerous thing was talking about kids by the way. Of course that's just opinion right there.
Lemme (yes, I know it's not real word) just run this by you: That one at the top,
NT7, it's got a diameter of 2.060 kilometers, not meters,
KILOMETERS. Roughly,
1.2 MILES.
A 1.2 MILE DIAMETER. Yes,
SHIT is a good word to say right now and unfortunately, that is
NOT opinion.
Go on, read the rest of the page, it gets worse. Read about the
Palermo scale or the
Torino scale. Sure it's not likely to hit until, say, 2019 but I'm still planning on being alive then so I'm not happy.
I'm gonna go lie down and quake in my bed. Night, pleasent dreams...or horrific nightmares.
That is all.

No more distractions...riiiiiiight
Ah, back from the game. You can read about it
here. Actually, I got back about 4:15pm, the game itself ended at 4pm. Not bad. Made me realize that living next to a stadium is pretty damn cool and that I should have taken greater advantage of it while I lived here. But ballgames aren't as much fun without friends. Though, for going to a game solo, I had a great time.
Having been to
a game in a different city, hell time zone,
a few days ago there were several things that came into stark relief. The game in
Baltimore was in a fairly new stadium, decent but not great seats. This game at
Wrigley was in a very old stadium, good seat (and I paid for it). Even so, I've been to several games in
Baltimore and I can tell you it's not just the seat, it's the stadium design. In
Baltimore, even when you're close up, you're far away. Here I could see the players expressions and the entire game much better. I think it had to do with the angle of the seats,
Chicago has low angles,
Baltimore a little higher.
Other differences? Well, if I ever meet the guy who runs the sound cues at
Camden Yards I'm gonna punch him in the face. Every three seconds was a "Charge" or "Owe-o!" or "Clap-clap-clap". Not to mention the music blarring between innings. In
Wrigley it was much quieter, and you could focus on the game. The "Charge" only happened at moments of true tension in the game and then was a calypso version of it, not the riotous horn. My only two complaints about
Wrigley? The seats are old and small and I have a big ass (but really that's mostly my fault). Two: the vendors. They came by every two seconds and had no qualms about standing in your line of site. I had to ask three of them to move.
But I'm sounding awfully negative for something that was so much fun.
Sammy hit one out in the ninth with two outs. It was great! The
Cubs mounted a rally and almost made it, two men died on base, it was so exciting. My real question was why after
Sammy hit a homer and two more guys singled off the pitcher the skip didn't haul his ass out of the game. He was used up and it made no sense. But then I'm no head coach.
Damned it was fun. I mean the game was exciting,
Sammy hit one out...what more could you ask for?
Oh, one last thing FYI: The souvenir cups at
Wrigley are vastly inferior to those at
Camden Yards despite identical cost.
Now I have to go back to packing...sure I do.
That is all.
Take me out to the ballgame
I should be packing. I really should. I have only two boxes truely "packed" and not much time to do the rest. So I should be packing right now.
Instead I'm going to a
Chicago Cubs game. Why? Well, I've lived in Chicago for a year now and not managed to see one game even though I live four blocks from
Wrigley Field. That's just not right. Also, a low pressure system moved into the area over the last day and dropped the temperature and humidity
WAY down. So it's perfect weather for a game. I'm going and nothing you can say will make me change my mind!
But I really should be packing.
That is all.

Pack out your trash
Ah late summer, when a young boy's fancy turns to taking every worldly possession and shoving it awkwardly into many, many cardboard boxes, hoping that nothing will be destroyed.
Serious de ja vu here; I did this little dance last year at the same time, just going west to east instead of vice versa (on a personal note, how many times to you actually see de ja vu and vice versa in the same sentence? I'm quite proud of that.) The problem is, this year, I'm not quite as motivated, which is odd because I'm looking forward to getting back to DC more than I was to move to Chicago. It's just that, well, I know what a pain it's going to be to move and the 8 year old kid in me says "I DON'T WANNA!" And I know I have to take the lazy little bastard out back and just beat the shit out of him. *SIGH* Well, I do have ONE box packed so far.
Back to work...I DON'T WANNA! *SMACK* WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is all.

Back from outerspace...
So tired. Went to
the game that wouldn't end last night. I'll tell you all more about it later. Sufficed to say, got back to the hotel at 2am, then left at 5am. SO TIRED.
Then I was trapped in the airport shuttle from hell with a bunch of southern bells. Now don't get me wrong, I like southerners, just not when I'm running on 3 hours of sleep.
More later, nap now.
That is a....................zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Trippin'
Well, I'm in D.C., spent the last two days looking at apartments. Fell
assbackwards into a beautiful place with my friend Mike D. Pure chance, happenstance, luck, gift from God. Then had lunch today with
Fil and Tony L. who recommended another fine place to live as well. I'm very blessed. Final decision tomorrow. Under so much pressure and everyone's busy. Wish I had more time to spend with them all but then again, I'll be living back here soon.
On that note, my mother took the news of my departure from Chicago
VERY badly. She is hurt, upset and blames me.
FUCK.
Working hard on arranging things, I'll be glad when I know I have a place to live.
Hope to see you all where ever you may be soon.
That is all.

I just don't get them
What's worse than having a "relationship" state of the union with your current girlfriend? Having one with a girl you're not even dating.
This girl I knew when I was in H.S. and I have been having this flirtatious little e-fling. Tonight it finally went bad. So stupid, I don't care, I'm not getting any real returns on the fling other than keeping my flirting skills intact. What do I care if it goes to hell, we'll just go back to being friends.
Only women could do this, try and discuss their feelings about something that doesn't even exist. SO STUPID!
That is all.
Random bits
It's funny, much like
Fil last night I watched, for the first time mind you, Dog Eat Dog on
NBC. I also had a similar reaction and it dawned on me as I'm watching that these people, they really never go away. It occured to me, America has created a game show profession, people who professionally appear on game shows, talk shows and other "celebrity" appearances as a job. These people get their 15 minutes of fame but then, while they're no longer in the spotlight, they're
ALWAYS in the backround. It's their job now, it's what they do for a living. And that's just sad, for us and them.
Moving on, I'm going to be in D.C. from Wed to Sun. Setting up an apartment. It's going to be fun, but busy fun. Running your ass of to get things together in 3 weeks or less fun. It should be interesting.
QUICK!!!!! LOOK AT THE DANCING MONKEY!!!!!!!!!!
That is all.

Deep S**t
Toomy: Deep s**t Epstein. Deep s**t. Jerome, how deep in the s**t would you say Epstein is?
Jerome: 'Bout here. (raises hand to eye level)
From
Biloxi Blues
I need help. I'm in way over my head here.
If I'm actually going to move back to D.C.:
1. I need a job.
2. I need a place to live.
3. I need to arrange a move from Chicago back to D.C.
I'm supposed to move around Aug. 5. I have none of these things handled.
Most important is the job, if that falls in to place everything else will too...so to all my friends in D.C. PLEASE HELP ME FIND A JOB!
